Call for Experts, Volunteers, Interested Colleagues to Track ISIS in Libya
We all know the holidays are the time for giving back and trying to make the world a better place.
Separate from Libya-Analysis®, I am in the process of creating community run project, Eye On ISIS in Libya. I envision it as a pro bono web service to track the Islamic State in Libya and provide up-to-date information and analysis on the group’s actions and the responses of Libyan and international actors. In my view there is a desperate need for this kind of service as neither the UN, the international media, Western governments, think-tanks, nor the academy are producing a comprehensive resource about ISIS in Libya, its origins, and accurate information about its week-by-week activities. My firm belief is that the existence of such a resource will help researchers and governments.
For this resource to be accurate, up-to-date, filled with useful and easily accessible content, maps, videos, reportage it will take a whole team of volunteers, each willing to offer their time/expertise/insights and even vision of how the service should operate. Therefore, if you have any relevant expertise or simply interest and could spare anything from an hour a week upwards, please contact Jason Pack at eyeonisisinlibya
It will truly take a village. I hope you will think about donating some of your time and will contact me. Note I am also looking for a range of volunteeers but also two high level and possibly paid positions: one as a partner to take part ownership over the enterprise and help direct its implementation and a webmaster who has excellent written English and web skills as well as a modicum of Libya knowledge. I imagine that both of those tasks would require ala five hours a week.
