Will Turkey-France tensions undermine the Libyan ceasefire?
For Jemai Guesmi, writing for The Arab Weekly on 26 October, increasing tensions between France and Turkey could have repercussions over Libya, which already stands as an object of discord between the two powers. Since Turkey reinforced its Eastern Mediterranean presence and influence in Libya, manifested by its memorandum with the Government of National Accord (GNA), France has voiced critics and concerns over what was perceived by Paris as a hegemonic Turkish approach to the region. Guesmi fears Turkish President Erdogan might push to undermine the newly adopted ceasefire between Libyan rivals to assert its influence.
