In an well-articulated article published on 10 April with Foreign Policy, Libya-Analysis Founder Jason Pack and Libya-Analysis affiliated researcher Matthew Sinkez argue that General Haftar’s offensive on Tripoli is likely to backfire and cost him his reputation and international backers. For the authors, Haftar’s decisions to attack Tripoli was rooted in delusions of grandeur and megalomania induced by his recent victories in Southern Libya and fuelled by the support he received from some actors of the international community. For Pack and Sinkez, Haftar, who was positioned as Libya’s dominant political force, is now at risk of alienating such supports as the recent events make him look like an aggressor or blockader. They point out:
