Libyan Dinar Plummets Against the Dollar
The Libyan dinar crashed to record lows against the US dollar in parallel markets last week in the most rapid devaluation in its history. On 3 April, it had already fallen to 7 LYD to the dollar, but by 10 April it had reached 8.5 LYD to the dollar, sending prices for goods in Libya skyrocketing. The currency free-fall is creating panic across the country, triggering incidences of insecurity and instability.
