LNA Says it Defeated Counter Attack in Oil Crescent
Reuters reported that anti-Haftar forces attempted a counter-attack against the oil crescent ports of Sidra and Ras Lanuf early on 7 December. Later the same day, the Libyan National Army (LNA) announced it had recaptured the towns of Ben Jawad and Nufliya from the military force that took them that morning. The LNA said that four of it soldiers were killed and seven wounded in the counter-offensive and that eight of the attackers were also died. The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has not suspended any loadings, but says it is monitoring the situation carefully. One eastern security official said the groups that advanced towards the ports in the Oil Crescent were linked to the jihadi Benghazi Defense Brigades, and also included Ibrahim Jadhran loyalists who were kicked out of the oil crescent ports in September. The Government of National Accord (GNA) has denied any involvement in the counter-attack.
