Libya-Analysis Media Mapping
The Libya-Analysis Media Mapping project is a comprehensive and detailed audit of all media sources (excluding social media) targeting a Libyan audience. It is available in English and Arabic. The study was completed by Libya-Analysis and a trusted European partner organization in April 2018 and identifies a total of 172 different outlets across the entirety of the country including Libyan TV stations inside and outside Libya, local radio stations, newspapers, magazines, and relevant online publications. The study provides invaluable insights into the major players, inherent biases and political fragmentation of the media landscape in Libya, and how this fragmentation aligns with the fault lines of the political conflict. It also sheds light on the popularity of various actors and ideologies in each local and comprises something akin to a ‘poll’ of Libyan sentiment.
The study comprises:
- Comprehensive Database of Libyan Media Outlets. The database identifies 172 media outlets with a range of information for each.
- Analysis of Findings. The extensive data points collected in this study can be analysed in several ways including by city, region, type, bias, political allegiance, and source of funding.
- Guide to the Libyan Media Landscape. Libya-Analysis can produce a guide to the Libyan media landscape and what it says about local governance, civil society, and bigger picture political questions.
