Political solution as the way forward for Libya

On 21 May, Middle East Institute (MEI) released a report by Jonathan M. Winer which looks at the origins of the Libyan conflict and proposes options for its resolution. Winer argues that Libya faces the threat of an extended war of attrition as a consequence of General Haftar’s assault on Tripoli, with dire humanitarian impacts for the Libyan population. For Winer, it is essential to convince Libyan actors that a political solution is the only way forward for the country. Well-articulated, the reports reviews Libya’s history and presents in clear manner the main domestics and international actors of the Libyan conflict in the fields of politics and security.Click here to download and read the report.
