Libyan newspaper denounces rigorist measures imposed by Tripoli militia

On 9 October, Libyan Express published a report denouncing the new measures imposed by the Tripoli-based militia Special Deterrence Force (SDF) on Tripoli citizens. According to the report, over the course of the past weeks, the SDF has been attempting to impose to men and women out in public together to prove their relationship and has been detaining individuals who could justify their status under the pretense of “immoral behaviour”. The article is very critical of this new measure and reopens the debate regarding the power of militias in Tripoli and the inability of the Government of National Accord (GNA) to exert control over these armed factions, at the detriment of citizens.Click here to read the article.
