Moving past Haftar’s narrative of authoritarian stability
In his latest publication with Middle East Institute on 3 September, Emadeddin Badi argues that the recent developments in Libya suggest that General Haftar’s to impose his narrative authoritarian stability to foreign powers is falling short. Badi understands that over the course of the past year, Haftar’s strategy has been to present himself to foreign powers as the sole authority able to stabilize Libya. However, for Badi, the persisting tensions in Libya result in part from Haftar’s attempts at taking control using military power.
