Some See Opportunity in Stability of Eastern Libya

Forbes publishes an article by Ethan Chorin discussing a recent visit by the author to eastern Libya and his impressions of the current situation on the ground after Haftar's seizure of the oil crescent and the establishment of marital law. He concludes:

But for all the complexities of the situation, the events of the last few weeks have presented what appear to be hard realities: first, the Government of National Accord, at least in its present form, is unworkable and unwanted by a large number of Libyans;  second, the East has a very strong, if not core, role to play in Libya’s political future; and third, the Libyan Army is the only Libyan organization that has shown itself capable of establishing and maintaining order.  And in the East, at least, it has obvious support.
