From the Libyan Press: Ali Awhida Criticizes EU Diplomacy

Thanks to our friends at Industry Arabic, we are pleased to bring you this translation of a short Facebook post by Libyan journalist Ali Awhida in which he critiques UNSMIL and EU efforts to resolve the country's crisis of governance.  His point of view is widely shared by the HoR camp, showing how even the international community's allies disdain their efforts.Source

The key dilemma facing the EU in Libya is that it has discovered León does not have any alternative plan to failure, and that his report on the true state of negotiations did not correspond to reality. The EU will not discuss the Libya crisis until the coming 16th of November, which indicates that it does not have a practical strategy despite what it has kept repeating, and there is no alternative plan. But how is it logical for the EU to propose a plan to “disarm the militias” while León is at the same time publicly negotiating with these militias to provide security to the consensus government?Throughout its mission in Libya, León has begun with the sole premise that an accord can only be reached through his own personal plan, first of all, and bypassing the concept of legitimacy is a secondary issue. In their dealing with the Libyan crisis, Europeans have respected the particularities and interests of foreign actors, yet only respected a small part of the particularities and interests of the Libyans themselves.Mugireny, the EU foreign policy official, had a call with Fayez Al-Sarraj today and informed him of their complete support for his government!!!Mugireny officially congratulates Al-Sarraj on his appointment as the head of the consensus government before this government enjoys support from any legitimate body in Libya.Clearly Mugireny is working to use the crisis in Libya to bolster teetering EU diplomacy, and took advantage of the refugee crisis to deploy military force against a weakened Libya.
