On 17 November, La Croix International published an article by Driss Rejichi titled ‘Challenged, Field Marshal Haftar in Libya reaffirms authority by force’. In his article, Rejichi reports on the ‘unusual turmoil’ in Benghazi, where Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander Khalifa Haftar is facing ‘growing tensions’ with tribes in eastern Libya. Rejichi argues that the catastrophic flooding in Derna last September was a ‘major blow’, which made eastern tribes question the legitimacy of Haftar and his family rule.
