Libya Says Will Declare Force Majeure at Zawiyya & Zuwara

On 7 January, Reuters reported that the Presidential Council (PC) released a statement saying it will declare force majeure at Zawiyya and Zuwara ports to stop fuel smuggling from them, although the statement gave no details on when the measure would come into effect. This follows accusations by the NOC that militias guarding these ports are engaged in smuggling activities. The Libya Herald also reports that the Misrata Military Council (MMC) has called on the NOC to reconsider its relationship with the Libyan National Army and Field Marshal Khalifa Hafter.
