'The international community did not understand how Libya functioned'

Drawing on the France 24 report published in early December entitled ‘Tripoli : on the brink of stability', France 24 hosted on 19 December a debate on the Libyan crisis. James Andre, France 24 reporter, Céline Bardet, international Human Rights Lawyer and Jalel Harchaoui, Researcher from University Paris VIII participated in the debate, which focused on Europe’s role in Libya.

For Céline Bardet, the international community did not understand how Libya functioned and tried to implement models which did not correspond, pushing for example for a centralized state model which does not match Libya's tribal structure.
