UNDP administrator reaffirms UN commitment to Libya, among other zones

On 30 May, Al-Monitor published excerpts of an interview of UN Development Program administrator Achim Steiner by Ayala Jean Yackley. Steiner discussed with Al-Monitor the works of UNDP in conflict zones such as Syria and Libya. Steiner stated that in Libya, UNDP continued to work in parts not impacted by fighting, aiming at developing stabilization measure and hoping to promote democratic values as a way to counter violent extremism. The message delivered by the UNDP administrator regarding the zones severely afflicted by violence and chaos was that of a strong UN commitment and efforts to address the roots of instability.Click here to read the interview.
