Our Mission

Libya-Analysis was founded to provide unbiased, reliable information about Libya. We continue to do this through our subscription products and advisory, as well as through the repository of publicly available information in our blog, our academic papers, and our sister site Libyan Security Monitor. We use cross-checked data, cutting-edge research methodology and a network of experts in North Africa and the wider Middle East to generate insights into one of the most complex countries on earth. While doing so, we aim to build capacity on the ground to empower the next generation of Libyan researchers.

Our Story

Jason Pack started researching Libya during his time at the University of Cambridge. While working in the country during the fall of Qadhafi, he realised that even large multinational companies, development organisations and governments were struggling to understand Libya’s dysfunctional institutions. To this end, he started to assemble a team of Libyan and international researchers to provide rigorously researched information and analysis on Libya across sectors and disciplines.

Our Approach

Navigating Libya’s information environment is challenging due to the prevalence of disinformation, political bias, and divisive language. Libya-Analysis has developed a multi-faceted system which allows us to gather, cross-check and assess the data which underpins our research in a rigorous and neutral manner. We have a sophisticated system that monitors a range of Arabic and English open source information on Libya in real-time, while our broad network of informed correspondents on the ground in Libya provide valuable context and verification. Our extensive database gives us the ability to quickly access historic data and detailed profiles to add depth and context to our research. Finally, our unique system of source verification allows us to make considered judgements on the reliability and accuracy of our sources’ information, and easily communicate this to our clients.

Our Values

Integrity

We conduct all of our research responsibly, rigorously, and with due care.

Diversity

Diversity of thought underpins all the work we do.

Neutrality

We are neutral and independent. We carefully select our clients to maintain independence.
