On 26 July, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) published interviews with five Libyan peace activists about how Libyan women have contributed to the peace process. One interviewee, Lamees, observed that 'Before the LPDF, women were usually excluded from the negotiation table during formal meetings', praising former UNSMIL Head Stephanie Williams, 'who included around 23 percent of women at the negotiation table'. Another, Estabraq, declared that 'International organizations are unaware of how hard it is for Libyan women to be involved in politics and the public sector', describing how women engaged in politics and civil society are considered 'dishonourable' and are 'assaulted, assassinated, and bullied'.To read the blog post, click here.
