HRW alerts about situation of Tawergha IDPs in Libya

On 24 January, Human Rights Watch (HRW) issued an alert regarding the situation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Libya. HRW sought to draw attention on the situation of the former residents of the Libyan town of Tawergha, displaced by conflicts. An estimated 48,000 Tawerghans have been dispersed since 2011, according to HRW. HRW notes that persisting insecurity and lacks of of infrastructure make it impossible for Tawergha IDPs to return to Tawergha despite reconciliation agreements brokered by the Government of National Accord (GNA) with the support of the UN Special Mission to Libya (UNSMIL).Click here to read the report.
