Libyan election processes under threat with resignation of UN special envoy

On 29 November, in the Middle East Institute's (MEI) Monday Briefing, Jonathan Winer, wrote an update on how the resignation of the UN's Special Envoy, Jan Kubis, threatens the Libyan election process. He argues that this disruption to UNSMIL's leadership leaves it 'rudderless' and that the UN would do better to bring back either of the last two chief U.N. envoys, Ghassan Salamé or Stephanie Williams, to serve on an interim basis until the conclusion of the electoral process.Read the article here.
