Life in Benghazi: between pain and hope

On 6 March, Mathieu Galtier published with The Washington Times  a report on living conditions in Benghazi. The past weeks have seen several reports on Benghazi, as the security situation has been progressively stabilizing in the city. For Galtier, Benghazi residents have been faced firsthand with the consequences of the Libyan revolution, and he reports their testimonies. Residents speak of the pain inspired by the destruction of the city and of their hope to come back with their families, as well of the lack of support from local authorities. Their testimonies also highlight the perceptions of General Haftar in Benghazi as a liberator in that part of the country, echoing the growing popularity of the strongman since the launch of a Libyan National Army (LNA) operation in Southern Libya.Click here to read the article.
