On 8 September, the Atlantic Council published analysis by senior fellow Frank Talbot, titled ‘Will Washington back the UN’s Libya roadmap with more than just rhetoric?’ The article looks at how the US can support the UN-facilitated agreement recently signed by Libya’s political rivals to hold national elections for the first time since 2014. Talbot proposes that Washington builds consensus among international partners, secures a mandate that backs implementation, and prepare targeted sanctions.
