BBC investigation looks into 50-year mystery of religious leader Musa al-Sadr's disappearance in Libya

On 2 September, BBC published an investigation by Moe Shreif titled ‘Body seen in secret mortuary could solve 50-year mystery of vanished religious leader’. Based on a photo of a decomposed face taken in Tripoli in 2011, a UK-based computer scientist claims the body could belong to charismatic cleric Musa al-Sadr, who mysteriously vanished in Libya in 1978. The investigation could end 50 years of conspiracy theories surrounding Sadr's disappearance, with some people claiming he is still alive and being held somewhere in Libya.
