On 19 August, Middle East Eye published an exclusive report by Faisal Edroos titled ‘Powerful Libyan official in talks with Israel to resettle Palestinians from Gaza'. The report cites multiple sources who claim that National Security Adviser Ibrahim Dbeibah, a relative of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, is spearheading the talks talks with Israeli officials over a proposal to resettle hundreds of thousands of Palestinians expelled from Gaza, despite the Palestinians flatly rejecting US President Donald Trump's postwar plan for the enclave. One source says that Ibrahim Dbeibah has already received guarantees that the US Department of Treasury would release some $30bn in frozen state assets.
